About Time! Anthem, started in-between a Big Bang of excitement of being a new looter shooter to compete upon Destiny, as of it being revealed back in E3, EAs top team who worked on Mass Effect “BioWare” worked on a new game that would be something new or bizarre, which of course was a little to me, and was for many others which they revealed at E3 being titled “Anthem” then had the gameplay reveal which kinda made me say or scream out “this is so fake..”, Which they had a talk about the game, including the people working on it said it is not, so I kept my head on focus to be unsurprised later on it isn’t. Obviously knowing that it was a business strategy to grab attention into the field of gamers believing the nonsense to buy it, and many thought they were gonna quit implementing micro-transactions during the time, and having many hoping for Anthem to never get it. The Demo or Beta had some huge issues during the first VIP week as it had many people complaining about the servers not working, etc when realizing they didn’t make it VIP at all for people who pre ordered is sad for many fans, then when the 2nd one open up as open beta it was okay and good and the frames did drop once and a while as it was 60 to lower on 1080p in PS4 Pro, Which was managed to 30FPS locked later on. Everything else(I want to note or for your information: also that this review was on the PlayStation 4 Pro system.) Around this sort of beginning Anthem, the story just starts off mostly about the thing being called “The Anthem” your serious right? don’t tell me this how you thought this name wasn’t a great idea from this, and how the world is. But then slaps us on how they retreated over this enemy or war as they ran away to be betrayed cause of it? I am confused, you guys weren’t able to take it down when you had the people to do so? Sigh what’s that matter, like I can see Godzilla maybe take that down in 3 secs or possibly the Ghostbusters sucking them up like “O boi it’s ghost suckin time!” Alright enough joking.. The game gets you know as a similar looter shooter taken into these missions. Good thing is that the world of Anthem is very vibrant and beautiful but still obvious that they lied upon it looking what the game should’ve been at last years gameplay reveal at E3, but was better than nothing now the music is pretty good, but I think mostly certain ones feel great through combat at some point of measures. After finishing continuous parts in the story you speak to people that could be apart of your team nor story, the venders who sell stuff is well you know the same old thing, but the critical issue is that the coins system in the game feels rather pointless, as buying something like a emote or whatever is just outrageous, but I can’t stop them even if the player wants to buy it or not.. My advice is to just stock up a ton and grind before even touching them because eventually you have to buy to get more, I think it’s abit annoying for micro-transactions being there which can cost a few bucks or more, but that still doesn’t take away anything about Anthem itself, as the shooting and combat system is great but the issue for some is sponge shots which is something that does barely anything to an enemy can be rather annoying and Destiny, and others does it too you heard me Borderlands.. Just kidding but seriously it doesn’t mean, I can’t have a challenge or have a good time with tougher enemy’s.. Even the controls felt great and enjoyable but has some issues here to there, after awhile of the games release with the new patch update during the release it kinda made the game feel a little bit less fun to earn loot after what happen recently to become another Fallout 76 as many recall it. The many classes so far in Anthem is alright but the only one I loved mostly was Storm having many elemental powers to take enemies and giving the game a RPG feel to it. Many issues for me is that it don’t have Online Multiplayer or Offline mode, but it at-least has Online Co-Op Which is great but dumb that when you do every mission it does auto matchmaking making it sad but at-least you can do it solo to enjoy the world of Anthem instead you can’t do the free roaming, and only can do it with people on matchmaking makes me very disappointed or shocked with awe. Don’t get me wrong but Team Work and communication is a great thing to the game. Flying is fun in the game even though you got a cool down system to let you know you can’t fly for that long unless certain parts of the areas are about cooled but its like it would just say “NOT TODAY!” and then maybe you would land to the ground and say to yourself “But.. it was cooled it would’ve let me fly still” I mean that’s how it cooperates in the game, and the funny thing is the main enemies of the game right reminds me fondly of Gru but he instead has a elmo power begging cult. Even though it isn’t a game for everyone then later on EA was mad that Anthem didn’t make enough sales as it was expecting this year, but doesn’t mean Anthems done right? Right? Well sort of... Anthem had an okay story felt bland once in a while but it finds a chance from the Combat in the game taking it away the ooze of it, and seriously the dialogue can be quite annoying once in awhile. Rather play Destiny with something there atleast, but that doesn’t mean I don’t hate the game it’s got potential through the exploration in game. VerdictIn overall.. "Anthem had a rough start on release etc, doesn’t mean it was terrible.. It was okay. it’s got it’s up and downs from certain things and many games have there pros and cons, but this one hasn’t really sparked out much even if it was developed longer..” Rate: 6/10 - Okay, but its very skeptical and best to wait on it being cheaper. Until then.. Game On! -Tim/Timothy (Timthegamer12) Follow me on Twitter!
