Well that was some reveal... Heya, folks! Tuesday was something, right? No?, Welp, I guess it’s just me aha. Sorry for not posting much for some time, since I was mostly trying to process some of the info.. But anywho… Let’s get to this! Bungie has finally revealed what is next for Destiny 2 heading forward into a new saga. The Name for this saga coming around is called The Fate Saga. The time has arrived for many, as on May 6th, they revealed some information regarding it, and with the reveal stream on top of that to give us a more in-depth dive about what they have to offer going forward. Just in case you have missed the stream, you can check the recap of this video below: Also here's the trailer for Edge of Fate if you don't wanna watch the Reveal Event: Phew.. Now with that out of the way.. Here's some information I got from most of this.. New Destination: Kepler“Not a shocker to finally be out of the solar system now, right? Right.” As we discover a new planet outside the solar system, we find Kepler. Inspired by the puzzles and pathfinding challenges of the Dungeons and the destination design, which encourages deep exploration and player-driven discoveries, as Final Shape did before with the Pale Heart with the Pathfinder in the Destination, making you explore deeper in what it had to offer expansively.. The location is set to be the key feature of this abundant dark energy called “Matter”. Matter also powers the abilities you will use on foot while at this destination. If we dive deeper, some of these abilities may also include: Relocator Cannon: This ability uses Fallen Dark Matter tech, which teleports players across the environment. Matter-morph: This ability allows players to manipulate their surroundings using the combined forces of dark matter and strand (reminds me of turning into a ball like Samus in Metroid, or Sonic rolling into a ball). New Game Core Addition: The PortalIn addition to the Edge of Fate expansion on its release, this innovation is planned for all players, providing a simpler experience for new players instead of the one destination system it originally had (or as of now when writing.. It can be quite complex for the new player/newcomer with what it is right now..). The Portal also tends to offer a variety of activities tailored to different playstyles or players wanting to hop right in, making the game easy to access and play right away, or to find the next adventure that awaits them, etc. Players in the portal can easily choose between modes such as Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible Ops. Fireteam Ops and Pinnacle Ops tend to reinforce a fireteam as you enter a certain form of cooperative content, as the Solo Ops option is something new for players just wanting a short, quick ten minutes of adventures or missions to go in and out, without needing a fireteam to join in. Players can even tailor activities that match their gameplay and the rewards they desire to chase, adding fifty new modifiers to allow deeper customization and greater challenge to their game at their fingertips, with the curated activities and modifications that can be added or changed. New Changes: Armor 3.0 and Tier SystemArmor and gear seem to be gaining a dramatic change to create “richer” opportunities for folks who buildcraft Bungie states. The new Armor 3.0 system is expected to arrive with a new system to empower your playstyle with bonuses, a rework of character stats, and armor that starts with full energy. Starting with the new stats in the rework in Armor 3.0 is one that can increase your weapon damage, as well as stronger effects, you can only get this if it’s 200 points, and if you wear two or more armor pieces of a given set then you can push the builds that are your favorite sets to be pushed further beyond its capabilities with these special set bonuses. There is also a new tier system for weapons, not just armor, this time! Each of the five tiers can offer up to better stats splitting, perks, or even more bonus mechanics to the weapon and/or armor. To earn the best gear with the highest tiers is only achievable by taking on the most challenging activities. The better the tier of equipment you acquire, the better your odds of handling harder content you can handle or take on. The best place to test your new gear is now a new permanent location coming to Destiny 2. Starting three weeks after Edge of Fate goes live, it’s time to say hello to the Shooting Range. New Permanent Area: The Shooting Range“This should’ve been in the game from the start…” The shooting range is intended to help players test their damage, test builds, or improve their aim. (I hope so). Shooting Range can be loaded with your raid group or yourself to test damage on all certain enemies, from red bars to mini-bosses/bosses. We should hear more information regarding the shooting range on a future TWID at Bungie.net at some point. Next Expansion Teased: Renegades"Never would I see a Guardian wield a Lightsaber, until now.." After the big talk on Edge Of Fate with its complete changes to Armor and Weapons, etc. We finally get to see a complete tease regarding Renegades. In case you missed the teaser trailer or didn’t watch the reveal event and continued to read instead, please check it out by scrolling up or the teaser trailer below: According to Bungie, on the event: Destiny 2: Renegades is a second expansion for the Year of Prophecy, but also a definitive expansion with an integral narrative to the new saga, suffused with inspiration and homage to Star Wars. Renegades plans to introduce new characters, innovative activities, and mechanics to surprise players and delight them in a way never before and that we should hear more about Renegades sometime in September (four months exact). DLC Prices and other, etc.Edge of Fate Release Date: July 15th, 2025 Renegades: December 2nd, 2025. Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy (Collector’s Edition): BUNGIE STORE EXCLUSIVE (PS4/PS5, XBOX, PC (Steam/Epic): $274.99 USD (No DLC Code) Collector’s Edition: $174.99 USD. After hearing what is planned for Edge of Fate/Renegades, they mention that seasonal content will become free for all players, even with a returning location starting September 9th for the major content update named: Ash and Iron. Ash of Iron will be providing a returning location from Destiny 1: Rise of Iron, and that’s the Plaugelands. (Wow, uh, that’s a surprise.). There's also a roadmap if you want to see it: Thoughts on most of this, etcThis stuff seems interesting… Edge of Fate seems to introduce many changes and interesting additions, such as the Shooting Range. I’m not sure how they’re going to be slightly bigger than Rise of Iron in terms of their expansion (which isn’t too massive but was fun in terms of endgame content). They appear to be leaning towards leaving items in the game now, which could be quite an issue. Kepler seems intriguing since it involves the Nine as a collective group with their own goals and alliances, featuring cool new archetypes for old enemies, etc. It seems they’re aiming for a Metroidvania-style expansion. Armor 3.0 and Weapons sound like streamlining stuff since it could be good or bad, which can be taken to some degree, and mostly Armor specifically, as they are pushing towards the relationship of Weapon Crafting away. The power level stat crunch seems to be happening and adjusted down, or a clean slate for the new Saga going forward, and to be honest, I am all for these changes in stats, etc, as it screams Destiny 3 to me, which can also help newcomers and not deal with the grinding problem, as it is already. Still curious to know what Ultimate Difficulty is like compared to Grandmaster since it’s around 500 power and not 400 (Grandmaster) since they didn’t hover over it and its modifiers, same with Player Stakes which seems to be an option to adjust modifiers but to what extent is something I do not know. Manifesting that Ultimate changes the mechanics and ways we play the game, as Rite of the Nine does as of now for Dungeons, but I think they are changing the difficulty to the playstyle you want to play. They need to change the scoring system so people can’t emote finishing them, we need it to be skillful and fun to interact with, which is my only concern. Shooting Range also seems like a massive improvement to me since it will be a mode to just enter and test out things for fun or just mess around with the team before a raid run, etc. I’d say the biggest surprise of most of this event was probably Renegades, knowing the feedback has some freaking out on the internet about it and saying they hate or like it, etc. It seems interesting to me, and keeping an open mind if it leads them to try new and interesting things, since I don’t have much to say. Best to wait four months (September as of writing this) for the time being. They aren’t trying to make Destiny, or Star Wars at all, since we don’t have much information yet, so it’s best to wait and be open-minded about it, and see Bungie innovate more, take risks, and do stuff for now. If it’s amazing, then it’s amazing, and if it sucks, it sucks… Some stuff is interesting, and some may be concerning, but we will find out what else it has to hold going forward, whenever the time comes, depending on how the execution of Edge of Fate and Renegades will be. That’s all, I got to say and that’s all for now... Will try my best to post anything that comes up on it when I can… Destiny 2: Edge of Fate begins July 15th, 2025 and Renegades releases December 2nd, 2025 Until then.. GAME ON! -Timothy Stambaugh / TimTheGamer12 (Tim).
